The QIS has performed in Belgium, Canada, China, Croatia, France, Japan, Scotland, Slovenia, Thailand, and the USA. They have commissioned new works by composers Roger Boutry, Chen Yi, Frédéric Devreese, Kushida Testurosuke, Sylvain Kassap, Junichi Nihashi, Carol Barnett, Carlton Macy, François Rossé, Andriy Talpash, and Yasushiro Kasamatsu.
